Testimonials

"I have received many massages, from around the US and the world, and every other week, Denarah has given me the best massage I have ever received. Denarah’s knowledge of the human anatomy, bones, joints and muscles, how they work and how they are affected by both physical stress and emotional stress, is without a doubt, impeccable.  When I first came to Denarah my shoulders were acutely rotated and I was not standing straight due to rotator cuff injury.  After talking to me, Denarah put together a plan that released my shoulder tension!  She cared enough about my over all wellness to educate me on some of the factors that may be contributing to my locked shoulders.  Now, though I still need my shoulders worked on from time to time my posture is straight up and down and I get comments on it from those who have always known me.  Thank you so much for being a practitioner who really cares about her clients and for their health and wellness.  You are a blessing."

When I first met Denarah at work there was something different about her that stirred up my curiosity. Working with many massage therapists we would sometimes get the opportunity to trade massages and something about her told me to seek her out. It could have just been the way her face lit up or the way her presence of life and joy filled the room. I soon got the gift of receiving a massage from Denarah and then I knew what had stirred the curiosity. Denarah had what I call "the touch". "The touch" is when you can feel that the therapisy really cares about your well-being as opposed to just going through the motions. I have had so many "going through the motion" massages and although therapists are all gifted in different ways, Denarah's treatment made a significant difference within the first 30 seconds. "The touch" is much more than words can describe. It is intuition, healing, euphoric bliss and much much more. Denarah helped me with my neck and shoulder tension but more importantly with my levels of anxiety and depression. Every time she gave me a massage I left feeling calmer and more balanced then I can ever can recall in my entire life.

About Denarah

From childhood, she was always outside stalking wild plants, reading about herbal medicines, and concocting herbal remedies. This focus on the outside world lead to her interest in caring for and helping to heal the environment. Denarah graduated from Mt. Holyoke College with a degree in Environmental Studies, and taught outdoor ecology for years to grade school students, worked on a whale watching research vessel out of Salem, and planned low impact gardening workshops for the Maine State Planning Office as an AmeriCorps Volunteer.

Outside of work, she was interested in chakras and energy healing, and decided to become certified in Reiki I & II in 2000. She began practicing on her friends and family, and realized how powerful this modality could be, but was looking for more guidance in her development as a healer. She became an apprentice to an energy healer, the headmaster of Unicorn Cove, School of Metaphysics where she studied for seven years. There, she developed her intuition, and ability to see, smell, hear, and feel the subtle energies within a client’s body. Denarah moved back home to Maryland and within 3 days enrolled in massage school. She graduated from Baltimore School of Massage with an academic achievement award, got her national certification from the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers, and her Maryland State License.

Services

Denarah’s services include swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, chair massage, hot stone massage, Reiki, Quantum Touch, and Unicorn Light Healing. She can incorporate aromatherapy oils, flash-fire cupping, acupressure, and meditation into a session according to what the client is looking for. Her intuition, hand sensitivity, and familiarity with anatomy help her flow through a massage and find the spots that need the most attention. She loves educating her clients on anatomy and physiology, how the body works, and explaining why certain postural positions, or behaviors can result in painful muscles.

She is known for her deep pressure work to relax structural muscles, but is equally able to go lightly when her clients are just looking for a relaxation massage! It is paramount to Denarah to take the time to listen to her clients and find out their goals for the session, so she can know how to best serve them.

Denarah’s passion is energy work, because she cherishes the chance to help facilitate a client to heal them self, and recognizes the client as the healer, not herself. Her philosophy is that we are all healthy, but sometimes we get out of balance, and considers it a blessing to be able to help others restore their balance and maintain their wellness. Check out her business, Polestar Thought Healing (www.polestarthoughthealing.com) to read more about her and her guiding principles.

She has experience in helping clients with chronic pain issues, rotator cuff injuries, anxiety, depression, stress disorders, clients who have a hard time resting, car accident victims, and much more.
