Craniosacral Therapy

Betsey has been using Craniosacral Therapy to treat clients for more than 12 years. Craniosacral therapy is very gentle and relaxing to receive and is extremely effective in addressing symptoms of pain and discomfort. Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch to address imbalances in the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy can help to improve any number of sensory, motor or neurological symptoms.

Visceral Manipulation

Through the gentle use of Visceral Manipulation the functioning of the body's digestive system improves. By applying specific techniques, tension in the abdomen can be released thereby improving the mobility of the digestive organs to restore healthy intestinal functioning.

Client Testimonials:

“We have sought out Craniosacral therapy from Betsey as part of our family's health care routine over the past six years because it has demonstrated itself to be a remarkably gentle, yet powerful way of establishing equalibrium in our bodies at every stage of life." Jennifer and Geoffry Vaughn, Catonsville MD

“Betsey Gilbert is one of the best body workers I have ever received bodywork from. I especially enjoy receiving craniosacral treatments from her. With this bodywork, I feel my habitual energetic patterns unraveling and my ability to let energy flow freely through me increasing”. Kathryn Yarborough MFA, ADTR

“Thank you, Betsey for a deeply relaxing massage. Nothing I have experienced is as relaxing as Craniosacral Therapy. I experience profound transformation with each session.” J. B. Yoga Teacher

Our family highly recommends craniosacral therapy for any child with sensory issues. Our son at age 4 ½ had conquered sensory issues, except for oral defensiveness. This particular defensiveness manifest itself in the inability to tolerate most foods. His menu was limited to items with a soft consistency (i.e., yogurt, mashed potatoes, bananas, “squirt” cheese, ice cream).

Suggestions from the medical community ranged from placing electrodes on his throat to stimulate swallowing to having his tonsils removed. Craniosacral therapy, as an alternative to the more invasive, traditional medical approaches seen in Western medicine, was our preferable course of treatment.

Results were immediate with craniosacral therapy and within 3 months (9 sessions) he was eating a diet commensurate with his age. Some of the food highlights added to his roster included bread, bologna, hot dogs, tuna and chicken salad, scrambled eggs, crab cakes, apple slices, peanut butter crackers, cookies, rice, peas, and cereal with milk.

Quality of life for our entire family improved. Results from craniosacral therapy were not limited to the oral sensitivity/defensiveness issue. Our son began to sleep through the night for the first time, giving us a much-needed improvement in our quality and quantity of sleep. Traveling is easier for our family without the worry of food availability, or the necessity of packing particular food for our journeys.
