An event every week that begins at 5:00pm on Sunday, repeating indefinitely
THE WISE HEART COMMUNITY: Living our yoga
Are you searching for ways to deepen your yoga practice?
Are you looking for a spiritual community to support you in that journey?
The Wise Heart Community for Devotional Practice and Study is an interfaith group of yoga practitioners and teachers striving through devotion, shared community, and selfless service to live life to good purpose and in the light of our true nature.
Our spiritual foundations:
We are rooted in the tradition of Satyananda Yoga. We bring our own spiritual traditions together with our yogic practices to create a rich mix of perspectives from which to examine our relationship with the Divine and with all of creation.
Our monthly schedule:
Sunday evenings 5:00 to 6:15 p.m., except for the first Sunday of the month
Hill House at Ruscombe Community Health
Our sadhana service combines chants, songs, and readings from many spiritual traditions, reflection and meditation, and community social time. We also include arati, a short fire ritual that invites us to honor the Light that illuminates the universe as well as each of us.
4 to 5:15 p.m. the first Saturday of each month
Ruscombe Community Health
Havan is a traditional fire ceremony performed to bring balance and healing to nature and to ourselves. In good weather we perform havan outside; when we cannot be outside we perform an indoor flower havan.
Fourth Sunday of the month at 3:30 p.m., immediately before sadhana
In study group we read and discuss seminal spiritual texts such as the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, as well the works of contemporary spiritual writers.
Believing that we must “walk the walk” as well as “talk the talk,” we engage in a variety of service projects, which currently include making kits for the Days for Girls project, preparing meals for Sarah’s Hope women’s shelter, and hosting an annual day of yoga to raise funds for melanoma research.
Join us on this path! We welcome newcomers to join us at any time!
