What is Pediatric and Zen Shiatsu-Acupressure?

Acupressure Practitioners at Ruscombe
Shiatsu is a form of Asian bodywork based on the Chinese medical model and is a complete system of healing through touch. Shiatsu was developed from Chinese and Western techniques of manual therapy.

Approach to treatment:
Shiatsu involves holding pressure points along the meridians of energy. It also includes stretching and leaning bodyweight into the recipient's body to improve energy flow, circulation, flexibility and reestablish harmony. Pressure is applied through the hands, thumbs, fingers, forearms, knees or feet. Shiatsu should never cause pain as some may have heard. Treatment focuses on sedation and stimulation along the specific meridians of subtle energy called "ki." Ki is the life-force which sustains every function of the body, mind and spirit. This process helps restore vitality, prevent disease and leaves you feeling whole. Most treatment take about 50 minutes or 30 minutes for children.
This process may also be used to access the metabolic pathways and restore patterns of disharmony back to normal. When this occurs allergens and other sensitivities are released and the whole system can now have better metabolic functioning.
