The English word “Meditation” is derived from the Latin word “Meditatio” – a verb meaning “to think, contemplate, devise or ponder.” This definition is consistent across time and culture. In modern context, meditation consistently refers to the development of human consciousness through specific concentration practices for various outcomes. Popular techniques include mantra meditation, mindfulness meditation, zen mediation, vepasana meditation, metta meditation and countless others. There are probably as many forms of meditation as there are cultures, religions and philosophies. Popular outcomes in modern times include stress reduction, increased concentration, loving kindness, self realization and enlightenment, to name but a few. Each teacher, group and culture offer their unique training, experience and interpretations. Research, experiment, practice and seek out others of like minded adventures. Be well, study smartly, practice safely and start today!

I was drawn to Five Element acupuncture because it reflects my love of the natural world. There is a beauty and rhythm to the cycles of nature, and the same is so for the human being. The human being is much like a garden, and just as a garden suffers when the sun, rain, soil, nutrients and loving care are missing or are out of balance, the body, mind and Spirit suffer when they are not fed and tended properly. Acupuncture can assist in bringing back harmony and balance to the human garden. Continue reading “Dixie Mullineaux”

It is spacious, luminous, and free of suffering. This all-pervasive consciousness brings us clarity of vision, authentic relationship, and a creative oneness with everything in life. When we live from deep within this natural awareness we create a state of peace, health, and joy. Continue reading “Katherine Dunn”
