On behalf of our founders Zoh and Bob Hieronimus, Ruscombe would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone in our community—practitioners, friends, sponsors, and guests—for the strong show of support for the annual Holistic Open House. We had an excellent turnout! Thank you to everyone who pitched in with gusto to help us make this annual event one that will be talked about for a long time.

Meet the Staff and Practitioners

Ruscombe Practitioners wore colorful flowers on their lapels so they would stand out, and visitors were invited ask them about: Homeopathy, Anthroposophy, Nutrition, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Craniosacral, Meditation, Energy Kinesiology, Yoga, Positive Psychology, Shiatsu, Massage, Energy Healing, Reiki, Ayurveda, Rolfing®, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy).

Delicious, Natural Food

Thanks to Katie Blake, the kitchen hummed all day, keeping the table full of healthy snacks for our visitors. Thanks to all the Ruscombe practitioners who prepared the delicious and mostly vegetarian food offerings for the day.

The Ruscombe Community

The open house was well-attended this year, with visitors from across Baltimore.

Mini-talks and Visiting Lecturers

Ruscombe practitioner Barbara Harman, positive psychology coach, gave a talk on the science of happiness, which sheds light on these questions and provides tools to help you create your happier life at home and work, as well as in your relationships. Ruscombe practitioner Linda Watkins, Energy Kinesiologist, shared some simple ways to support your health and the health of your loved ones using your own hands to build an emotional “shield,” energize your kidneys for better hydration and healing, stimulate acupressure points for neck tension relief, and more.

Visiting author Mare Cromwell, nature mystic, empathic intuitive healer and international speaker, shared her books, including The Great Mother Bible: or, I’d Rather be Gardening and If I Gave You God’s Phone Number: Searching for Spirituality in America. Dudley Riggs invited visitors to recline for 10 minutes on his BodySound Chair and experience the amplified layered music played through transducers that generate sound and vibration in addition to synchronized electro-magnetic fields affecting the central nervous system and the human energy system.

Demonstrations: Rolfing®, Thermography, Pure Light Blessings, Classes

Visitors had the opportunity to try demonstrations of several practices and alternative therapies for good health, given by Ruscombe practitioners: Betsey Gilbert, a practitioner at Ruscombe of Craniosacral, Meditation and Massage therapies, and a student of Her Holiness, Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi, gave Pure Light Blessings in the Egyptian Meditation Room. Rhonda Keagy demonstrated Thermography, a non-invasive diagnostic technique using an infrared scanning device to visualize and graphically map the body temperature in color on a monitor. This visual image is referred to as a thermogram, and is popularly used in place of or in addition to the mammogram to screen for breast cancer.

Outside, Rebecca Donnelly gave a class in NIA, a cardio workout that engages all of your body, your spirit and your senses. Karen Shavin taught a demo session of Feldenkrais, “Three Minute Miracles: Gentle Awareness Through Movement Lessons”, with a group of visitors seated in chairs. Michelle Dexter gave Ayurveda Mini Classes, Energy Testing Exercises, and a drawing for a free intuitive reading. Jeannine Olson demonstrated Rolfing® on volunteers, while explaining how Rolfing® Structural Integration is a system of manual therapy and awareness education.

Kirtan

The Wise Heart Community hosted Kirtan, a yoga practice in which participants chant mantras and sing hymns that honor the Divine. Visitors are welcome to sing, clap, play an instrument, or just sit silently and take in the healing vibrations of sound.

Drs. Bob and Zoh

Ruscombe founders Zohara Hieronimus, D.H.L., and Bob Hieronimus, Ph.D., were in attendance.
