As an acupuncturist, meditation teacher, and artist my most essential goal is to help reveal the still, unchanging essence within each person and all of life, often referred to as the Inner Self. It is spacious, luminous, and free of suffering. This all-pervasive consciousness brings us clarity of vision, authentic relationship, and a creative oneness with everything in life. When we live from deep within this natural awareness we create a state of peace, health, and joy.

I am a practitioner of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, one of the oldest systems of healing known to humanity. With its roots in the East, and a philosophy grounded in the wisdom of the natural world, this medicine treats the deepest cause of illness, from which symptoms arise in the body, mind and spirit. This is done by the insertion of small needles into the energetic pathways (meridians) of chi (or vital life force) in the body, in order to restore balance and health to the patient. Diagnosis and treatment are based on the balance of the five elements existing in nature (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire) as they manifest in a person’s whole self. For the last 22 years I have studied with both the late Dr. JR Worsley, and Dr. JB Worsley, both masters of this acupuncture lineage. (see www.worsleyinstitute.com).

As a meditation teacher, I work with individuals and groups in diverse settings. For 30 years I have studied with meditation masters in the non-dual Kashmir Shaivite tradition. I am a Level One iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher (see www.irest.us). Yoga Nidra, “yogic deep sleep”, is an ancient meditation practice which can open the door to profound inner stillness and ease, and a wellspring of wisdom. Through a gentle sequence of inward exercises, the subtle energies of the body, mind and emotions are balanced, which untangles stress and creates healing at many levels. It is used with various populations, most notably in the area of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). I am also a Certified Meditation Teacher in the Realization Process (see www.realizationcenter.com). This is a meditation practice grounded in the body, attuning us to our deepest dimension of being, which is the source of our authentic self as well as our oneness with all of life. In this process we learn to live from within the energetic core of the body, to align with the subtle levels of awareness and breath, and to refine and deepen our intimacy with life through our senses.

As an artist, I work in the media of photography and printmaking. I consider my work as an acupuncturist and meditation teacher also forms of art. In this way, I always have my eye on revealing the beauty and harmony of nature and spirit that permeates the entire universe, manifesting in each person as the authentic Self.
