Medical Qigong is one of the four branches of Chinese Medicine. While acupuncture, herbs, and medical massage are better known by the public, Medical Qigong has a long history in China in promoting health and wellness. “Qi” means lifeforce energy, and “gong” means skill, so Medical Qigong is therefore the skillful practice of applying lifeforce energy. Medical Qigong is a complete system that addresses the needs of the whole person, targeting the root of the disease while promoting balance and harmony for the patient.
How I came to be an acupuncturist was not exactly a straight line. I have followed my heart time and time again gathering a very diverse set of experiences that led me to study the most beautiful form of medicine I know. Though a confluence of brilliant teachers and opportunities, I decided to spend the rest of my life learning and practicing a medicine that encompasses the full breadth and depth of human experience.
I believe wholeheartedly in our innate ability to heal ourselves. This is the essence of my practice, to support healing. I use acupuncture, medical qigong, Qigong Meridian Therapy, Wu Ming Qigong, as well as breath and mindfulness practices to help us reconnect to our innate healing ability. In addition to my private practice, I have been on the faculty of MUIH since 1990. Continue reading “Heather Dorst”
I have practiced Acupuncture and Qi Gong for more than two decades. Over the past several years, I’ve added Medical Qi Gong and essential oils to my practice. Both are components of ancient Asian healing systems. They offer gentle ways to untangle troublesome symptoms and create ‘take-home’ practices to further the benefits of treatments. I often describe Qi Gong as ‘DIY Acupuncture’ or ‘Medicinal Movement.’ Easy to learn, fun to do, highly beneficial — and economical! Continue reading “Cynthia Zanti Jabs”
Diana’s eclectic life experiences have been motivated from the beginning by a deep curiosity to discover or uncover what is true and what is real.
In her youth she was a gymnast, performed in a circus, studied dance and practiced yoga and mind training fundamentals. She has traveled extensively in the South Pacific, Asia, the Caribbean and in the West. Diana’s early academic experience focused on the study of language, symbolism and culture, which led to an early career in the arts. She then worked on sailboats, including some lengthy transoceanic crossings, and later became part of a care-giving team at the Zen Hospice Project during the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco, CA. More recently, Diana completed training as a Death Doula with Alua Arthur’s program Going With Grace.
